Project Updates
-
The Staff Office and entrance Area -
The Reception Area with its post boxes, disabled toilet and entrance on the right to the lovely Lounge -
The Lounge, which is so light and airy and in the sunshine is such a great space - still my favourite area! -
The opposite end of the Lounge - now minus all the builders tea mugs! -
The (huge) Disabled toilet - Just for Barbara! -
The carpeted corridors -
-
The now complete rear stairway and bin store access -
Coming to the end of the project and things are all being completed - we think it deserved a double bill of updates for November! This is the fantastic cycle store! You may think this a little odd having space for a fairly decent Olympic Team of cyclists but we like to cater for everything! It would also be a great general store for buggies or equipment should there be a need -
The boys are tidying the patio area and fitting the security side gates -
Hmmm - Looks like one of the team is checking out the weather hoping the turf doesn't go curly! -
We've even included a shed! (For those residents who are worried about the pot plants we have CCTV throughout the scheme so your buds should be safe)! -
The rear garden is definately looking better! -
Lanscaping ongoing - it will look lovely when its all in bloom -
Ok - I did say 'almost'! The new stairway and bin store access still needs a little attention! -
The Driveway and Carpark are almost ready for their finishes - railings delivered and about to be fitted -
View of the lift area - as you can see it's a very spacious area - the carpet has been laid and is covered with protective sheeting -
There are three design of apartments within the scheme - view of one of the living rooms to kitchen -
View to the living room window -
The Bedroom -
The lovely lounge -
The brew station and preparation area within the Lounge -
The new pathway being formed around the site -
-
The boys clearing up for the setting of the railings above the wall -
The groundworkers finishing the digging in the carpark and the brickies forming the external staircase to the bin stores -
The gardeners are busy laying topsoil and setting the decorative wooden posts - very exciting seeing it all come together -
-
This is my favourite space - the Lounge. We have incorporated a brew station at one end so residents don't have to return to their apartments for refreshments for either themselves or their guests -
-
The front area is having its makeover and starting to look very handsome indeed! -
-
View through the driveway into the carpark - the canopied area to the right is the cycle store with the bin store to the rear -
We have a lovely new wall - the brickies have done a fine job of it too! -
INTERIORS - The decoration looks very neat ready for the door fitting -
All the new doors lined up and ready for the Joiners -
The wetrooms are progressing nicely -
The Kitchens are having their flooring fitted -
OUTSIDE - the pavers are beginning the transformation! -
These skylights will, on completion, be glazed giving a bright open feeling to the communal tea area -
The external works are beginning, not long now for the neighbours to be left in peace! -
Many of the kitchens are now installed and fittings connected -
Wetrooms are looking really nice and the fixtures are going in -
The scaffolding is gone! Brickwork looks great - although the sky is thunderous. This is possibly the first day it has been raining in Wigan for ages for our photo's. The window protection will stay on until the final clean, hence they look a bit ragged. -
The bricks will have a scrub too to show off their lovely facade -
-
Each of the apartments have very spacious wetrooms - these stylish tiles will make them look beautiful -
These lovely wood finish units are set off nicely by the newly completed tiling - kitchen fitters and tilers working very well to create this modern look -
Painting one of the living rooms - such a lovely sunny room -
The kitchen being made ready for its fit out -
Going really well now - mist coating the bedroom -
The only day in Wigan I have experienced rain and it had to be when the roof finishes were being done! Looking very smart even wet! -
Back to being the sunny Wigan we know! The roof finishes from the ground looking just as smart - The upper floors are able to be completed now -
Our fantastic Site Manager standing in what will be a respite area alongside the lift -
The lovely sunny communal room -
View over what will be the Car Park -
View from the road -
Woohoo the Roof is on! View from what will be car park entrance -
Working out the Reception space -
Brickwork looking fantastic! Weather in Wigan still lovely and sunny -
Living and Bedroom -
First Floor construction -
On the outside the Brickies are working to catch up before the roof goes on -
Meanwhile down on the ground floor - rooms taking shape - to the left is a living room to the right is a bedroom -
First floor Skeleton - weather being very kind ! -
Inch perfect! -
The Team doing a sterling job -
Installing flooring for 1st Floor -
A Birdseye view of Ground floor skeleton -
Back to business! The brickies work their magic and the first floor rooms start to take shape -
A birdseye view of the ground floor structure - these areas will shortly be part of someones home - it all seems very real now -
The boys are done for the Christmas break - and well deserved! In 4 months they have dug, secured an unexpected mine shaft, piled, framed and fitted the foundations and have begun constructing the walls! Well done to Fawleys and their team for the fantastic effort - we wish all the contractors and surrounding residents a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year from all at VVHC -
The site is moving along swiftly now and the ground floor flooring is delivered and secured -
-
-
On this fantastic sunny Wigan day, with the piling done we start to lay the steel structures that the concrete foundations will sit. -
Wigan has a great heritage in mining and many areas around the Borough have mine shafts. In order for us to make sure the building is very secure and stable we use piles driven into the ground on which we place our foundations. This picture shows the piling rig driving the piles into the ground - VVHC would like to thank all those residents based around the site for their patience and support during this time. -
Following extensive ground investigations and many consultations on design, with great excitement VVHC's contractor 'Fawley Construction Ltd' mobilise their teams and break ground on the new site!
